The Village of KohKlang is located on an island just off the shores of Krabi town, in Krabi district, Krabi province. Longtail boats transport people to and from this enchanting Muslim island. You will be greeted with many "hello's" and offers to help when you arrive at your destination on the island. The residents take pride in assisting tourists and are happy to share their beautiful island with visitors.
Many residents are employed as fisherman, boatman or workers in the mangroves around the Krabi area. There is also a fish farm located near the Island. The islanders enjoy a simple way of life with beauty and nature surrounding them. Bamboo and palm leaves have many uses and little is left for waste. There are 3 separate villages on the Island, with 3 schools and 4 Mosques between them.
KohKlang has several projects underway to assist the residents and secure a better way of life. Two of these are the Homestay Project and Eco-tourism. Homestays allow for tourists to life with a local family and experience the daily activities of the Island. Eco-tourism involves many different projects or trips to local mangroves, beaches, caves, islands, or birdwatching. Visitors may also involve themselves in local crafts like Batik, boatbuilding, fishing, cooking or crabbing.
